At Sea, heading toward Calleo (Lima), Peru.
Another great sea day made even more special by whale sightings. Today was the Asian buffet, and of course we went because we haven't had anything to eat the entire cruise! We are trying to beat Patty Wong's record for most visits to Silk Road for sushi or dinner, but that didn't stop us from pigging out on sushi today! Even Jack Klugman came to the buffet. He's been sighted eating breakfast in the Lido Cafe, but has not been seen in the dining room or around the ship except for his lecture. I stood next to him in line and didn't approach him, but he is about my height.
I must say the schedule of activities on sea days continues to be daunting! This morning we went to hear the lecture by an espionage expert. His opinion of the best stealth agency is not the CIA or British Intelligence or the KGB, but the Indian Intelligence Bureau, which has never had a mole and has a sterling record up until the tragedy in Mumbai. Very interesting lectures. Next I went to a class on Japanese table manners and chopstick use---never, ever pass anything by chopsticks to another person's chopsticks and never stick chopsticks straight up in a rice bowl---both are used in crematory or mourning ceremonies. It is considered OK to drink anything from a bowl, even the large size bowls in Ramen restaurants. My next activity was needlepoint and I am at the bottom of the class. Fortunately, it is followed by Art at Sea and I'm really enjoying that. We are finishing up our watercolours in preparation for an exhibit. I'm certain that I will have a major offer for my painting LOH! David is enjoying some of the lectures and he is sticking with his Spanish class and doing quite well.
My new friend Natalie (she and her husband, Rod, are our STEX matches) and I are continuing to meet at 7:30 am to walk in the pool. Of course that reduces my obligation to exercise anymore during the day and definitely allows me to eat whatever I want!!!!
Captain Giske is now our Captain, having boarded in Costa Rica. His office seems to be in the Bistro. That's where I always see him.
Tomorrow we dock in Calleo, the port closest to Lima, Peru. We're doing almost maximum speed 21 knots tonight in order to get there on time. The seas are moderate 4-7.5 feet. Tonight is a formal night, so off to get gorgeous!
love to you all!

Ricki and David, glad you are enjoying Silk Road. Anne Marie and I may actually have the record but we would be happy if you break it.

Happy Cruising.
