Cabo San Lucas December 9, 2008

Cabo San Lucas,
This is our second full day aboard Symphony. So far it has not proved to be as lively as 6230--but the cruise is young! Cruise Critic readers: we've met Kareoke Queen (Christie and Terry), SuiteTravels (Miles and Dan) and, of course, Judith and Larry (Thank God, Larry looks great!). We've also been spending time with our STEX match Natalie and Rod--a very nice couple! We're seated at the Chief Engineer's table and it is great to have someone answer my questions about the ship. David isn't too happy--he doesn't like dining with the help---bad joke! It has been really nice to see Remi, Albert, Ivo and Vlada again. As usual, the guys on Lido are outstanding! I can't say enough about Kiko, Allen, Arnold, Ricky, Michel Angelo, and others. Just super service!
Of course, we haven't had a enough to eat on the ship--right! Even the dinner on embarkation night was excellent--Wisconsin rack of veal, which hasn't happened on other Crystal cruises. Last night David had lobster which about a 3/4 pounder--he asked--and graciously received--three more helpings. We tried the Japanese breakfast today because we are in training for dining at Prego tonight. We're eating with Judith and Larry, Christie and Terry and Miles and Dan. The ship is slightly more than half full but the next segment is supposed to be completely full. I'm not sure about the leg from Buenos Aires to Miami.
Our cabin is very comfortable, but I could use another set of drawers. Could it be that I overpacked???? We have a couch, not the odious chair, which makes better use of the space. The ship looks spotless and the Christmas decorations are up, with more appearing every day. So far we are about $45 ahead in the Casino which translates that David won and I lost!
I'm taking Tai Chi and David is taking Berlitz Spanish. Yesterday was my first Art at Sea watercolor class. All in all, the cruise is even more than we anticipated!
After Cabo, we have 3 (yea!) sea days until Caldera! I'll try to post more photos of inside the ship on those days.
Much love to all of you!
Ricki and David

Great first report from onboard my favorite ship. So glad to hear that you are having enough to eat!!!

Enjoy your dinner in Prego and give our best to Judith, Larry, Christie and Terry. We haven't met Miles and Dan yet but send our best too!

You are being surrounded by all the best crew at sea!

Hi Ricki & David,

Thanks for the LA to Cabo report! Tell David he better pace himself for 71 days at sea after 3 portions of lobster on the first formal night.

I'm especially glad to hear Vlada is aboard. I haven't heard anyone mention him on Cruise Critic lately and was wondering if he's still with Crystal. Valda is tops in our book, along with all the others, of course!

Smooth sailing to Caldera!
